The efforts of the family members along with the district administration bore fruit as the body of Maninder Singh, who was shot dead at a convenience store in Los Angeles in the US on February 22, is expected to arrive in India in the wee hours of Friday.

The last rites of Maninder will be performed at 11 am on Friday at his native Uplana village in Assandh block. His cousin Harpreet Singh, who is living in the US, played a crucial role in raising funds with the help of a page for sending the body back, while the district administration has requested the Union External Affair Ministry to raise the issue with the US government for the speedy return of the body.

Kuldeep Singh, brother-in-law of the deceased, said: “It was the wish of the family members to see the body for the last time and everybody supported us to bring it back,” he added.
