To assist residents, six employees have been assigned duty at the Citizen Facilitation Centre and 20 staff members have been deployed at licensed colonies. In the first phase, the KMC has taken up 10 licensed colonies with plans to involve public representatives in the coming days to maximise participation.
As per the data, there are 1,68,341 properties within the municipal limits. These include 85,631 residential, 49,375 vacant plots, 14,628 commercial, 1,254 industrial, 1,340 institutional, 2,013 special category, 6,992 mixed-use and 6,108 agricultural properties. So far, around 61,500 properties have been self-certified, which is around 36 per cent.
An official claimed that once certified, the property ID will be secured and hidden from public view, maintaining confidentiality and preventing misuse. He said that the initiative would streamline property records, strengthen transparency and improve efficiency in tax collection.
“Employees have been directed to intensify efforts to increase the number of self-certified properties further. Weekly progress reports will be collected from all officials,” said Abhe Singh, Deputy Municipal Commissioner.
He said that KMC Commissioner Vaishali Sharma has ordered meetings with resident welfare associations (RWAs) and private builders to encourage early completion of the process.
The Deputy Municipal Commissioner explained that the self-certification system would reduce grievances related to property IDs. “Only the property owner will have access to the details, ensuring that no one else can tamper with the records,” he said.
Zonal Taxation Officer Ankush Parashar said that for self-certification, property owners are required to register on the portal, verify their property details and submit a family ID card or Aadhaar number to complete the certification.
