With the arrest of the owner of a closed private school, the Karnal police have claimed to have cracked a double-murder mystery.

The accused has been identified as Vishavjeet, alias Kuki, of Rasina village under the Pundri police station in Kaithal district, who used to run Dreams Public School on the Kaithal road, which was closed in 2019, said Mohan Lal, in charge, CIA-2.

As per the police, the accused confessed to having killed his wife a few days ago and burning her body on the school premises. He also killed Naveen Kumar, a resident of Shiv Colony on July 31 and dumped the body on the closed school premises, he added.

Mohan Lal said they got information about the body lying on the school premises on August 31, following which they reached the spot. The body bore injury marks. They recovered an axe from the place and handed over the body to the family members.

“After connecting all links, they reached the accused and arrested him,” he said. He confessed that he has taken Naveen to crime scene and escaped after killing him, he added.

In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accused suspected his wife of having an illicit relationship with Naveen due to which he took the extreme step, Mohan Lal said, adding that earlier he had killed his wife.

He would be produced in court today and taken on police remand.
