Key stretch in Jind nightmare for commuters

A dilapidated Rohtak Road in Jind town has been giving a bumpy ride to residents for long. Besides making driving on the stretch a nightmare for commuters, the clouds of dust emerging from the road are causing serious breathing problems to people.

Local social activist Rajkumar Goyal has urged the Jind Deputy Commissioner to take immediate measures to repair and maintain the badly damaged road, keeping in view the inconvenience being faced by the public.

Goyal demanded that until the road construction begins, regular water sprinkling should be carried out to provide temporary to the residents from dust.

Goyal also urged that all potholes be filled at the earliest to reduce the possibility of accidents.

He said condition of the road was extremely poor as large number of potholes have developed at several places and excessive dust was causing serious health issues to the people. The situation has not only troubled commuters, but has also made life difficult for nearby shopkeepers and residents, who are facing breathing problems.

The social activist complaint that there is a need for regular sprinkling of water to settle the dust and demanded that the potholes be repaired immediately to prevent accidents.

According to locals, the nearly 2-km stretch connects Jind town to the outer areas and thousands of vehicles pass through it daily.

Still, the District Administration has been ignoring this work, which is causing immense trouble to the residents and commuters.

Goyal warned that if the administration fails to act soon, they will be forced to launch an agitation to highlight the issue.

He said a young woman riding a scooter was injured near the State Bank of India branch due to the poor condition of Rohtak Road.
