Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday lashed out at the Congress, alleging that the party had engaged in “vote theft” during its rule and was now desperate to woo infiltrators for votes.

“Congress leaders are now accusing others, but the truth is that they themselves stole votes while in power. A clear case of the pot calling the kettle black,” he said while responding the Congress allegations, on the sidelines of the district BJP working committee meeting at the party’s Karna Kamal office in the city.

The people of the country know everything, Khattar said while interacting with the media in response to a question about Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s yatra in Bihar on ‘vote theft’.

The Union Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP-led Union government has undertaken development works in every sector over the past 11 years. “Be it the issue of triple talaq or the abrogation of Article 370, historic decisions have been taken. Today, India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economic power,” he said, adding that continuous progress was being made in the energy sector.

Referring to a new initiative, he said the Prime Minister had announced financial support of Rs 15,000 to youth in private jobs, with a budgetary allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore.

Khattar also underlined the contribution of the RSS in promoting the spirit of patriotism among people of the country. “The RSS has completed 100 years and has instilled a strong sense of patriotism among citizens. The sentiment of ‘nation first’ has grown, and it is because of the working style of the BJP and RSS that the people have continued to give the party an opportunity to govern for years,” he said.

Responding to queries on the firing incident outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurugram, Khattar said, “I would not like to comment on any individual. You all know about Elvish. But as far as firing is concerned, our police will investigate the incident thoroughly and strict action will be taken against the guilty.”

On the murder of a woman teacher in Bhiwani, Khattar said both the police and state government had taken necessary action. “The guilty will be caught and all facts will come out,” he added.

Reacting to Congress MP Deepender Hooda’s remarks that “Haryana is being run from Delhi”, Khattar said, “Everyone has their own responsibility. Modi ji runs the government in Delhi, Nayab Saini is running the government in Haryana. I handle the Power Department and extend cooperation wherever needed. I was in Panipat yesterday, today I am in Karnal and tomorrow I will be in Delhi. The Congress is in the habit of spreading confusion, but the people cannot be misled.”
