Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsUnion Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar today took a dig at former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, saying, “If he has become unemployed, I am ready to arrange a job for him. I will find him employment somewhere.”
Khattar was responding to a question asked by mediapersons about Hooda’s allegations of rising scams and irregularities flagged in the CAG report. Union Power Minister was the chief guest at the 75th state-level job fair at Desh Bhagat University here.
Responding to the Congress’s claims that law and order in Haryana has deteriorated, Khattar said: “They are unemployed and in need of work. We have plenty of jobs available, and we will ensure they get one.”
The job fair witnessed thousands of students from Karnal and neighboring districts. Over 4,000 youth registered at the fair, which saw the participation of nearly 50 companies, with a target of distributing 2,000 job letters by the end of the day. During this programme, Khattar distributed symbolic job offer letters to eight selected youth.
On the economic front, the Union Minister highlighted India’s strong GDP growth. “It is a matter of pride that at a time when the world was anxious about economic recovery, India’s GDP has grown beyond 7%. For this, I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all those connected with the economic system of the country. Together, we are moving forward with unprecedented growth,” he said.
On Rahul Gandhi’s “Vote Adhikar Yatra” and the controversial remarks made against PM Modi and his mother, the Union Minister said, “Such cheap behavior is shameful. These are disgraceful acts made from a Congress platform, and I strongly condemn them.”
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Khattar praised the initiative and extended gratitude to the participating companies and the university. “Such job fairs should continue to be organized so that students get new opportunities and pathways for their future,” he said.
He underlined that job fairs play a significant role in providing employment opportunities and should continue to be organized in the future. “Government jobs are now given purely on merit. The old system of ‘parchi and kharchi’ (recommendations and money power) has ended. Today’s offer letters should be seen as opportunities to move forward and enhance one’s skills further,” he said.
The Union Minister highlighted the government’s initiatives to facilitate overseas employment through legal channels.
“So far, 200 youth from Haryana have been sent to Israel for work, and demand has come for 1,000 more. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, loans up to Rs 10 lakh are being provided to promote self-employment,” he said.
Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr Jora Singh shared that this was the first such job fair organized in Haryana, while 74 had already been held in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. Social worker Rajvindra Boparai inspired students to adopt humility and presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to Baba Banda Bahadur Lohgarh Trust, Yamunanagar.
