The Governor of Haryana has relieved Sushil Sarwan from the post of Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner with immediate effect, as per the order issued by the office of the Chief Secretary on Friday evening.

Sarwan has been relieved a day after a Congress leader from Kurukshetra sent a letter to the Election Commission of India (EC) and the State Election Commission, Haryana, seeking his transfer, because Sarwan’s mother Santosh Sarwan is the BJP candidate from the Mullana Assembly seat of Ambala district.

The Congress leader had raised apprehension that that his posting in the district could affect the Assembly elections.

As per the order, the charge of DC has been assigned to the ADC-cum-District Citizen Resources Information Officer, Kurukshetra, Sonu Bhatt, with immediate effect.
