Kurukshetra to be developed as sports hub: MP Naveen Jindal

He was holding a meeting of district development coordination and monitoring committee (DISHA) at the Mini-Secretariat in Kurukshetra.
Jindal said “All the Khel stadiums of Kurukshetra will be equipped with basic gym facilities. A grant of Rs 5 to 10 lakh will be provided for the basic gyms. Apart from this, the sports department officials have been directed to prepare a plan for improving the sports infrastructure."
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh elaborated on the agenda of the meeting and CEO of Zila Parishad Virendra Kumar presented the progress report of the work done by the departments.
Jindal said Kurukshetra should be known in the whole country in terms of cleanliness and development. All officials are well aware of the development works and schemes related to their respective departments, therefore they should complete the development works within the stipulated time period as well as keep focus on the quality of construction work.
The MP also directed the Education Department officials to ensure adequate number of rooms and toilets in the schools and start English medium facility at all primary schools. The MP issued directions related to sanitation conditions in urban and rural areas, sewage system in villages, natural farming, farm fire and use of plastic bottles.
The MP said the national highway officials should make the farmers aware that they should not sell the top soil of their agricultural fields.
Jindal directed the officials of Women and Child Development Department and Education Department not to use refined oil in Anganwadi centres and mid-day meals. All officials would ensure that only nutritious food was provided to the children.
About the issue of stray cattle, Jindal said on the basis of the report of the Municipal Council officials, arrangements would be made to keep about 3,000 animals in three cow shelters around the city and a grant would be given to build sheds in these cow shelters. The officials were directed to make Kurukshetra stray cattle free and start sterilisation of dogs. During the meeting, the MP issued directions to improve sanitation at Kurukshetra railway station and said the station would be inspected soon.
Jindal instructed the officials of the national highway to beautify the service road along NH 44 from Kurukshetra to Shahabad.
Thanesar MLA Ashok Arora and Shahabad MLA Ramkaran Kala also raised the issues related to their respective Assembly constituencies in the meeting and directed the officials to resolve the issues.
Thanesar MLA Ashok Arora raised the issue of shortage of rooms at the LNJP district Civil Hospital and suggested the shifting of Civil Surgeon office to a nearby Dharamshala. The MLA said the Health Department officials had made offices in the private rooms of the patients. If the officials shift the administrative offices to a nearby Dharamshala, then more than 10 rooms in the hospital would be available to the patients.
Along with this, he gave some necessary guidelines to the officials to complete the construction work of some roads of the Thanesar constituency soon.
