Kurukshetra varsity signs pact with Punjab printers’ assn

The Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Kurukshetra University, and the Offset Printers Association, Punjab, signed an MoU, to enhance practical knowledge of students, on Monday.

Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said signing MoUs with industrial units was a step towards accelerating the objectives of the National Education Policy. Through the MoU, the university students will receive industrial training in associated units, which will enhance their practical knowledge.

Sachdeva added that the MoU would not only help the students secure employment but also support those who wish to start their own ventures in the printing and packaging sector.

The MoU was formally signed by university Registrar Dr Virender Pal on behalf of Kurukshetra University, and by general secretary Prof Kamal Chopra on behalf of the Offset Printers Association. Addressing the gathering, Kamal Chopra said all industrial units under the association would remain open for the students of Kurukshetra University’s Printing and Packaging programmes. He assured full support in providing jobs and industrial training. Chopra also said their association, in collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, had been signing MoUs with various printing institutes across India. He proposed similar collaboration between Kurukshetra University’s printing, graphics, and packaging departments and the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, China.

Ashwini Gupta, president of the All-India Federation of Printing and Packaging, shared insights on international collaborations in the printing and packaging industries.

Director of the Media Institute, Maha Singh Poonia, said this MoU paved the way for establishing an international collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. He added that under NEP-2020, final-year undergraduate students were required to undergo two months of industrial training, and this international partnership would help create provisions for the same.

MoU coordinator Kanwardeep Sharma presented an outline of the agreement.

The event was attended by Dean of Academics Prof Rakesh Kumar, Dean of Commerce and Management Prof Mahender Chand, Dean of Research and Development Prof Sanjeev Aggarwal, Dr Madhudeep, Dr Abid, Dr Roma, and other faculty members of the media institute.
