Congress MP and AICC general secretary Kumari Selja accused the BJP government of mistreating farmers and adopting a dictatorial attitude, similar to their actions two years ago.

Speaking to mediapersons at Sirsa’s Mandi Kalanwali on Sunday after attending a religious event, Selja condemned the state government’s use of force against farmers.

She highlighted the recent Shambhu border incident, where farmers were allegedly targeted with tear gas and stopped from reaching Delhi to voice their demands. Selja said, “If farmers are unhappy, the country can never progress.” She urged the Central Government to initiate talks with farmers and address their rightful demands.

Selja also criticised the BJP for its conduct in Parliament, claiming that the government suppresses opposition voices and diverts public attention from critical issues.

The religious event commemorated the 754th birth anniversary of Bhagat Namdev at Bhagat Namdev Dharamshala on Sukhchain Road, Kalanwali. The ceremony included Shri Akhand Path Sahib, which was followed by kirtan and a blood donation camp. Several individuals donated blood during the event.
