Kurukshetra admn to hold cleanliness contests

To improve the sanitary conditions, after launching the Swachh Kurukshetra Mera Kurukshetra-Mera Abhiman campaign, the district administration has launched sanitation contests among educational institutions, wards and government offices. The district administration rank the institutions, residential areas and government offices, and recognise them with awards.
Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, who had been holding regular inspections of various areas, said that to make Kurukshetra a role model for cleanliness, everyone must understand their responsibility and contribute. To achieve this and fulfill the state government’s resolve, everyone must focus on improving the sanitation.
“Cleanliness is not just a government’s responsibility, but a collective responsibility of all citizens. Cleanliness is the foundation of our lives. Therefore, everyone must work together to create a pleasant environment by consistently adopting cleanliness as part of their lifestyle. All departments concerned have been issued instructions to improve cleanliness. Directions have also been given to the Education Department to ensure that premises, rooms, toilets, library and the area around the school of all government schools are cleaned”, he said.
The Deputy Commissioner said a 100-point competition will be organised for the cleanest school, college and other educational institutions. This competition includes 10 points for the garbage-free school, college and institution, 20 points for the best waste management practice, 20 points for personal hygiene and cleanliness, 15 points for cleanliness innovation award, 15 points for the Waste to Wonder competition, and 20 points for community and student participation.
The municipal councils and the municipalities will also organise cleanliness drives with the support of members of their respective houses of the civic bodies. The wards will be adjudged on a 100-point parametres, including 25 marks of cleanliness at public places, 25 for solid waste management, 10 for sanitation and public health, 15 points for innovation and green initiatives, 20 points for public participation and behavioral change.
Similarly, the government offices will also be included in the sanitation competitions. The government office that ranks first in cleanliness on the premises, rooms, toilets, and surrounding areas will be awarded the Best in Cleanliness Award.
Meanwhile, a QR Code based tracking of public feedback/suggestions regarding all 16 toilets of the Mini-Secretariat, Kurukshetra, has been started.
Pehowa SDM Abhinav Siwach, while sharing the information, said “Citizens will be able to share feedback on the web portal after scanning the QR code. Each QR code has been mapped to a particular toilet and feedback will be visible to the District Administration at the backend. The citizens will be able to rate the toilets, and give suggestions. On the basis of the data, further action will be taken. This initiative is part of the Haryana Shehri Swachhta Mission 2025. After the Mini-Secretariat, the public toilets will be covered in the district in a phased manner.”
