Kurukshetra, Ambala admns prepare for ‘Run For Unity’

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena on Tuesday held a meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming Run For Unity event in Kurukshetra.

The district-level event will be organised at the Dronacharya Stadium in Kurukshetra.

After the meeting, at the NIC office in the Mini-Secretariat, DC Vishram Kumar said the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31 would be celebrated as National Unity Day and like the previous years, a Run for Unity will be organised to mark the event.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Sports Officer to prepare a route plan for the Run for Unity. The route plan will be two to five kilometres long. There will be no competition of any kind in this Run for Unity. Everyone will run for national unity, so that brotherhood prevails in society and the country remains firmly bound by the thread of unity, he said and further stated that athletes, school students and people from all walks of life and religions should participate in the Run for Unity.

While issuing instructions to the municipal council, the DC said the cleanliness should be ensured along the route planned for the run and in and around the Dronacharya Stadium. Municipal Council officials should ensure the cleaning is done in a timely manner. Ample security arrangements will also be made for the event, and other facilities, including drinking water, will be provided for the students. District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar was present on the occasion.

Similarly, in Ambala, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer held a meeting regarding the event with the district officials at his camp office.

He directed all officials to work in coordination to ensure a smooth event. He also inquired about last year’s Run for Unity programme and directed the officials to prepare a route plan for the occasion and ensure the participation of as many students, youth, and citizens as possible, so that the message of national unity, integrity, and brotherhood reaches the masses.

On the occasion, officiating District Sports Officer Ram Swaroop Sharma, District Education Officer Sudhir Kalra, Tehsildar Aditya Ranga, and other officers were present.

Earlier, Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, issued instructions to all Deputy Commissioners of the state for organising the Run for Unity on National Unity Day on October 31 at 7 am. This year, the state-level Run for Unity event will be held in Fatehabad and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will attend the event as the chief guest.

Ambala Range IG Pankaj Nain also issued instructions regarding the Run for Unity.
