  • While the renovation work at the new bus stand in Kurukshetra is expected to start soon, the wait for the ambitious project to develop a new bus stand at Pipli is only getting longer
  • The new bus stand is to be built under the public-private partnership mode at a cost of Rs 125 crore. The existing bus stand along the service road of the Ambala-Delhi highway is in a poor state

The proposed work includes developing the new bus stand in Kurukshetra on the Mahabharata theme to provide a new experience to tourists and passengers, who reach Kurukshetra in large numbers.

Haryana Roadways General Manager for Kurukshetra, Sukhdev Singh, said: “The new bus stand is to be renovated on the Mahabharata theme and we are aiming to improve the basic facilities for passengers, roadways staff and also enhance the aesthetic look of the facility. New entry and exit gates, counters and shops will be constructed. Some work related to parks and parking will also be carried out under the project.”

“A budget of Rs 1.64 crore has been transferred recently to the Haryana Police Housing Corporation. Soon the corporation will present its plan and then the tender will be floated,” the official said.

While the renovation work at the new bus stand is expected to take off soon, the wait for the ambitious project to develop a new bus stand at Pipli here is getting longer. The new bus stand is to be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode at a cost of Rs 125 crore. The existing bus stand, along the service road of the Ambala-Delhi highway, is in poor condition.

The Roadways GM said: “The new bus stand at Pipli will come up at 10 acre 4 kanal land for which the land located near the existing bus stand has been acquired. The file has been sent to the Cabinet Committee of Infrastructure for approval and after it is okayed, a tender will be floated by an agency hired for the project.”

“The master plan is ready and the bus stand will have its entry and exit points on Ladwa Road. It will have a shopping complex and food courts,” he added.
