Kurukshetra police deploy office staff on special night patrolling

To tighten the noose around miscreants and nuisance creators during the late hours, the Kurukshetra police have started conducting special night patrolling by deploying officials who manage the office work during the day time.

As per the information, to enhance the police presence during the night, special night duties are being assigned to the police officials who perform different duties at various branches in the SP office, DSP offices and police lines in the district. At present, the duties are being assigned in Thanesar, Ladwa and Shahabad areas and a team comprises of five to six police personnel.

Kurukshetra police spokesman Naresh Kumar said to curb criminal activities and keep a close watch on the people moving during late hours, following the directions of the Kurukshetra SP, a special night patrolling had been started since July this year. Under the initiative, the office staff was assigned night duty and they remained on night patrolling from 9 pm to 3 am. They had been given directions to prepare stranger rolls, issue challans for drunk driving, liquor consumption at public place and action against vehicles violating traffic rules. The duty was being assigned once a week and on a rotation basis.

As per the data shared by the Kurukshetra police, from July 9 to 31, the office staff on patrolling had issued 75 challans for drunk driving, 99 challans for using black film on four-wheelers, 118 challans for two-wheelers creating jarring sound, 848 challans for triple riding, as many as 1,234 challans for without number plate vehicles, and 1,628 challans for vehicles without pattern number plates. Besides these, people were caught consuming liquor at public places in three cases, five challans were issued for using red and blue beacon on vehicles, and 1,267 stranger rolls were registered.

Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Nitish Agarwal, said, “The prime objective of the exercise is prevention of crime. While the police personnel of police stations and other units remain deployed on their respective duties, the deployment of office staff in the late hours has given us additional force and it has also helped in increasing police presence. They have been given directions to check the suspected vehicles suspected elements, prepare stranger rolls, pay special attention in the shadow areas to curb illegal activities, and also people consuming liquor in vehicles at public places. At present, the patrolling is being done in Thanesar, Shahabad and Ladwa areas, after seeing the outcome, the remaining areas such as Pehowa and Ismailabad will be covered.”
