Kurukshetra University hosts 28 South Asian universities at youth fest

The KUK-South Asian Universities Youth Festival has begun at Kurukshetra University here on Monday. It is the 13th edition of the fest and is being held at the Kurukshetra University for the first time.

The festival began with a cultural procession in which five participating countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and 28 different universities of nation showcased rich cultural heritage through their traditional dress, music and dance.

Rajya Sabha MP Lieutenant General DP Vats, who inaugurated the five-day festival, said “The South Asian Youth Festival at Kurukshetra University is a confluence of cultures of different countries. The festival is a symbol of peace, prosperity, cultural harmony and mutual love in South Asian region.”

He said, “Despite being separated politically, these countries have common cultural values, cultural heritage, family system and way of thinking. Youth from various nations in the South Asia by sharing on a common platform will learn more about each other and contribute to harmony. I invite everybody to be tolerant, adjusting, accommodating and to love each other as culture creates harmony and tolerance.”

Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Dr KC Sharma said the festival was a showcase of art and culture of South Asian nations. He said, “Students from various nations will present their country’s art, culture, costumes, life philosophy, stories and stories here. The philosophy of cultural diversity of India will also be showcased at the platform.”

Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini, World Organisation of Students and Youth chairman Nitin Sharma and DYCA Prof Tejinder Sharma also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

During the inaugural ceremony, participants from all the participating countries and universities marked their presence on the stage in their costumes and traditional attires.
