KU had decided to plant 75,000 trees in the university and its affiliated colleges this year. In the meeting of the university’s academic council, a resolution was passed, saying each student would plant a tree during the academic session.

He said each student in KU had to plant a tree and look after it. The student would also have to tag a picture of the tree with a geotag, he said.

“Planting trees will be implemented as a compulsory non-credit course for students. Students doing a one-year diploma will have to plant one tree, while those doing two or three year courses would have to plant two or three, respectively,” he said, adding that the course would be introduced soon.
