Kurukshetra, July 23

Using sheets of papers to set question papers manually has now become a thing of the past at Kurukshetra University as it has gone paperless to set question papers by introducing a software module for online paper-setting.

The manual mode of setting question paper was being used since the university’s inception in 1956. More than 10,000 papers are set in an academic year for all semesters and each question paper setting in the manual mode involved about 20 sheets of papers, and eight large and small envelopes sent to each paper setter.

The paperless module, on the other hand, is aimed at streamlining the process of creation, distribution, organisation and management of a centralised database of paper-setters. Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said: “In a major initiative to boost the Digital India programme, the university has taken a major step to go paperless for setting question paper and use a software module instead. We have completely changed the old practice of manual paper setting and adopted the digital mode.
