The portal, introduced by the Centre for Distance and Online Education, aims to provide undergraduate and post-graduate students with practical, skill-based learning opportunities in a bid to enhance employability and self-sufficiency.
Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva, as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the portal held recently, said internships played a crucial role in equipping students with real-world skills.
Over 72,000 students enrolled in courses at the university each year, making it a challenge but also a necessity to provide internship opportunities to all, the VC added.
Sachdeva said, “Internships are vital for preparing students for the realities of the workforce. Our upcoming apprenticeship embedded programmes will further strengthen this mission. We face three recurring challenges — lack of work, lack of skilled workers and mismatch between skills and job roles. NEP-2020 offers a framework for addressing these gaps through skill and value-based education, making students self-reliant.”
Anita Dua of IIHS shared internship guidelines and available options, while Sajal Mishra from Medha Foundation spoke on building a robust internship ecosystem in higher education institutions.
