Kurukshetra University’s 282nd executive council meeting held

The 282nd meeting of the executive council of Kurukshetra University was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva.

The council discussed 30 key agenda items and reviewed the minutes and action-taken reports from the previous meeting.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Dr Jimmy Sharma, informed that Prof Ranjana Agrawal from the Department of Chemistry was promoted to the post of senior professor, while Dr Anand Kumar from the Department of Physics, IIHS, was promoted to the rank of professor.

In addition, several faculty members were promoted to the position of associate professor under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). These include Dr Kushvindra Kaur (CDOE), Dr Sarita Rana (Zoology, IIHS), Dr Sandeep Gupta and Dr Hardeep Rai Sharma (Environmental Studies) and Dr Ramesh Kumar, Dr Sanjay Tyagi, and Dr Monika (Computer Science and Applications).

Under the Self-Finance Scheme, the council recommended the promotion of Dr Amita Mittal, Dr Sona Rani, Dr Sanjeev Dhawan, Dr Chandra Diwakar, Dr Monish Gupta, Dr Sunita Khatak and Dr Rajesh Kumar from UIET, as well as Dr Kamal from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, to associate professor.

The council also discussed a proposal to backdate the CAS-based promotion of IIHS faculty members from 2019 to 2016, which is under consideration.

Promotions were approved for senior non-teaching staff as well. Assistant Registrars Rajbala and Kanchan Bala were promoted to the position of Deputy Registrar (Budget) as per the 7th Pay Commission. Similarly, Hari Singh and Mamta Rani were promoted to the post of Superintendent (Budget). The council also reviewed recommendations related to the implementation of a new staffing ratio for assistant posts under the Self-Finance Scheme and endorsed promotions for the posts of head gardener and chief sanitation worker.

A six-month extension was granted to Prof VN Atri, retired from the Department of Economics, to continue as Director of the International Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies (ICIPS). As per government orders, the name of Sardar Ajit Singh College (a minority institution near NIT, Kurukshetra) has been officially changed to SKS College, Kurukshetra.
