DTP Rajesh Kumar said the action was taken as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta.

He said the department team carried out the demolition drive in the colony spread over about 11 acres of land.

Notices were issued to the defaulters as per the Urban Area Act Number-8 of 1975, but they did not heed to the orders, the DTP said.

He added that the land owners had not taken the necessary permissions before setting up the illegal colony, necessitating the action.

He advised people against investing their money in unauthorised colonies and contact the DTP office before buying a plot.

“Before carrying out any construction in the controlled area, one can apply on the portal of the Town and Country Planning Department to get permission for land use change. The District Town Planner’s office can be contacted for more information on any working day,” the DTP added.
