Members of the INLD met Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia on Monday and handed over a memorandum, demanding an FIR under Section 302 and 307 of the IPC against the Karnal SDM and police personnel over the lathicharge on farmers on Saturday.

Condemning the lathicharge, party workers led by state president Nafe Singh Rathi said it was a brutal act of the police on peacefully protesting farmers. The police even beaten up the farmers by chasing them in the fields.

A video of SDM Ayush Sinha went viral on the social media, in which he was seen directing police personnel to hit the person crossing barricade on head, he said.
