A final year student of Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University at Rajiv Gandhi Education City in Rai died after falling from the seventh floor of his hostel around 12.30 am today. The deceased has been identified as Samyak Jain of Shiv Puri.

The hostel guard informed the authorities about the incident and they took him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, the police received information about the incident around 1 am. Inspector Lal Singh Dhankar, SHO, Rai, along with his team, visited the spot to inquire into the matter. He said prima facie, it appeared to be an accident but things would be clear only after the post-mortem examination. The deceased had come from his home only two days back, the SHO added.

If his family lodges any complaint, the matter would be investigated accordingly, he said.

Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of the CrPC. Meanwhile, panic gripped students on the campus after the incident.
