A 53-year-old lawyer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of a court chamber building in Faridabad’s Sector 12 recently. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for postmortem. No suicide note was found at the scene, and the exact reason behind the extreme step remains unclear.

The deceased, identified as JP Dhankhar, was a resident of Machhgar village and practised law at the Sector 12 District Court. Preliminary investigations suggest he was suffering from an undisclosed illness, which may have contributed to his decision.

Eyewitnesses, including fellow lawyers, saw Dhankhar jump from the building. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO of Central Police Station, Faridabad, said, “The deceased was a retired Indian Navy personnel who later pursued law. The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigations are ongoing.”
