Sonepat: The geography department of Bhagat Phool Singh Women University, Khanpur Kalan, organised three-day extension lectures for students and teachers. Prof Rajeshwari, chairperson of the geography department in Kurukshetra University, delivered lectures on ‘Regional disparity in economic development in India’ and ‘Experiences of regional plans in India’. Similarly, Prof Suresh C Roy of Delhi University talked on the topic ‘Sustainable water resources management issues and challenges’ in his lecture.

Sampark road inaugurated

Hisar: The forest department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University inaugurated the Sampark road in the presence of Vice Chancellor KP Singh. During the inauguration, he planted Kadam, an ornamental plant. Other officials from the university too joined the VC in his initiative. Over 100 plants were planted on 1 acre to highlight the importance of planting trees in fighting pollution. Prof Singh said agroforestry system developed on the farm for maximising the plantation of multi-use saplings was commendable.

Covid awareness campaign

Kaithal: The community service club of Delhi Public School on Friday organised an awareness campaign on Covid and the importance of personal hygiene. The initiative was completed with the distribution of masks among the public in different areas of the town. Volunteers visited residential and market areas of Sectors 19, 20 and 21 and spread awareness. Masks were also given to auto-drivers, vegetable vendors, shopkeepers, labourers and other pedestrians. Leading the volunteers, Principal Navneet Kaur informed the residents about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, sanitising hands, avoiding mass gatherings, using masks and handkerchiefs, etc.
