Live grenade seized from two youths in Karnal, safely neutralised by STF

A team of the Special Task Force (STF), Karnal, arrested two youths and recovered a live hand grenade from their possession on Friday. The grenade was later safely defused by the team, following standard safety procedures.

According to Depender Rana, incharge of STF Karnal, the operation was carried out after receiving secret information.

“Acting swiftly on the information, the police apprehended both the suspects from Baldi bypass and recovered one live hand grenade from their possession,” said Rana.

“After the information, the area was quickly cordoned off, and both were arrested. The explosive was destroyed following safety protocols,” he added.

While the police have not revealed the identity or motive of the two arrested individuals, they have confirmed that the accused are associated with a gang.

“We are inquiring about the intentions of the accused and also involvement of others in it,” said Rana.

Aman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), STF Haryana, confirmed that both suspects have been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.

“Initial findings suggest both accused are residents of Sector-13, Karnal,” said the DSP.

“Both arrested youths are being interrogated, and all possible angles are being examined. It is too early to comment on their motives. We are investigating the matter thoroughly and will reveal more information once the inquiry progresses,” he asserted.

The incident created a stir in the area. As the news of the grenade recovery spread, curious residents gathered at the spot to witness the developments. The entire operation was conducted under tight security to ensure public safety.
