During the hearing of women-related cases at the district headquarters, she said it was time that parents understood the importance of the values of old-aged customs and values that are the sound pillars of a balanced society. Besides parents, the education system should ensure that values were passed to the next generation in a manner that they did not become a victim of norms that were harmful for the society, she said, adding that the trend of live-in relationship emerging in society was like a blot and sufferers were mainly women.

She said the system of marrying two daughters in the same family had also resulted in negative fallouts as the complaints of victimisation and exploitation had been seen as a common issue in such cases.

Bhatia said no kind of attack would be allowed on the dignity and rights of women as the Haryana Women Commission would not desist from taking a prompt action against any incident of victimisation.

She said the commission had been playing an active role in understanding the problems and resolving the issues related to women across the state.
