The Bhiwani police have arrested one of the accused in the suicide case of a college girl in a village under the Loharu police station in Bhiwani district. The accused, Rahul, a resident of Shyam Kalan village in Charkhi Dadri district, is the son of Hanuman, the owner of the college in Singhani village.

Diksha, a BA final-year student, allegedly died by suicide on December 25. She hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room. Her father, Jagdish, lodged a complaint on December 27, accusing Hanuman, his son Rahul, his daughter and the college principal of harassing Diksha over unpaid fees and barring her from sitting in her examinations. Jagdish further alleged that Rahul had repeatedly troubled Diksha over the phone.

The police have registered a case under Section 108/3 (5) of the BNS at the Loharu Police Station. Rahul was arrested shortly thereafter.

Bhiwani SP Nitish Aggarwal has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Tosham, Dalip Kumar, to investigate the matter.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused Rahul and the deceased had been in contact for approximately three months. “We have seized relevant records from the college, and the case is being thoroughly investigated from all angles to ensure strict action against the culprits. No individual found involved in the case will be spared,” a police spokesperson stated.
