Lok Adalat held at Rohtak jail; 3 prisoners freed

It was the second Jail Lok Adalat organised in August.
Four cases were heard and three prisoners released during the Jail Lok Adalat chaired by District Legal Services Authority Secretary-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate Dr Tarannum Khan.
Three cases were heard and two prisoners released during the first Jail Lok Adalat held in August. Seven cases were heard and five prisoners released during the two Jail Lok Adalats held in August.
Dr Tarannum Khan said a National Lok Adalat would be organised on the Rohtak court premises on September 13, where citizens could get easy justice by placing their pending cases.
"Cases related to banks, challans, electricity, water and other such cases will be settled at the National Lok Adalat by mutual consent," she stated, adding that the citizens should present their pending cases at the National Lok Adalat to get a permanent solution. Cases settled at the Lok Adalat cannot be challenged in any higher court, she added.
Meanwhile, the DLSA informed the residents about the 90-day mediation programme through a radio talk from the local radio station.
The general public was informed about the 90-day mediation campaign through a radio programme. The general public was made aware of getting their pending cases resolved quickly through mediation.
The DLSA Secretary said the National Mediation Campaign would greatly benefit the public and reduce the number of cases.
She said the objective of the campaign was to resolve pending cases amicably through mediation.
"The process of mediation not only saves time and money, but also improves mutual relations between the parties," she observed.
As per the orders of the National Legal Services Authority, the Mediation Campaign is being run across the country. This 90-day campaign will continue till September 30.
The campaign is meant for those cases which are eligible for mediation. These cases include family disputes, land disputes, business contract disputes and consumer matters etc.
In the radio programme, mediator Lalit Kaushik said the citizens could get their cases settled quickly by mutual consent through mediation by bringing these to the mediation office of the District Legal Services Authority through the court.
