Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij visited the under-construction civil enclave (domestic airport) in Ambala Cantonment and said the airport was likely to become operational by August 10 and the flights would start from August 15.

The former minister inspected the work being done and directed officials to complete the work at the earliest. The terminal of the Civil Enclave is coming on 20 acres, adjoining the Air Force Station, in Ambala. All booking, security checks and other formalities will be completed at the terminal. Then the the passengers will be taken to the Air Force Station in a bus and from there they will board the plane. The runway of the Air Force will be used for the project.

After inspecting the work, Anil Vij said, “The work is in its final stages and the civil enclave is expected to become operational by August 10. All required permissions from the departments concerned have been obtained. The first flight will take off on August 15 and it is likely to be for Ayodhya and the second for Jammu.” Congress leader Himmat Singh today said the Ambala Civil Enclave should be named after Guru Harkrishan Sahib.
