Batra appealed to residents to maintain social harmony during the elections, hold healthy discussions based on issues and refrain from propagating negativity and divisiveness.

Addressing a news conference here on Friday, the MLA asserted that Rohtak would get more projects and make more progress once the Congress government was formed in the state as compared to the previous tenures of the Congress regime. Questioned about the allegations being made by the local BJP leaders, Batra said the Election Commission and the local administration were dealing with the matter and he would respond at an appropriate time.

However, he remarked that certain persons were trying to spoil the brotherhood that was there in the city for the past few days. “These people cross all limits to spread hatred among the residents to further their vested interests,” said Batra. The MLA said he had family ties with members of the downtrodden communities since childhood. “I belong to a party which has the national president as well as state president from the Dalit community. The people of Rohtak know that I always respect the members of all communities,” he stated.
