The minister said under the Mukhyamantri Jagrut Gram Puraskar Yojana, awards would be given to those gram panchayats which would excel in socio-economic parameters, like education, health, self-employment, water conservation, women leadership, agricultural productivity, digital connectivity and sustainable infrastructure.

He said the participation of educated youth had increased in panchayats, and a large number of panches/sarpanches had been elected members and chairmen of block committees and district councils. They would play an important role in strengthening the rural economy, he added.
