A 26-year-old man, who worked as a driver, was allegedly beaten to death by six persons at Jatoli village, Pataudi area. The main accused has been arrested in the case.

The police identified the victim as Pawan, a resident of Jatoli village. He had been missing since Saturday afternoon and was found critically injured near a drain on Faridpur Road in the village on Sunday. He was rushed to a private hospital in Gurugram, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The arrested accused was identified as Rajesh, alias Lambu, a resident of Jatoli village. The accused confessed to the murder, revealing that he suspected the victim of having an illicit relationship with his wife. He, along with his friends, beat the victim to death.

According to the complaint filed by Rahul, the deceased’s brother and a priest at Baba Hardeva Temple in Jatoli, Pawan left home around 4 pm on Saturday. When he didn’t returned till 7.30 pm, Rahul called him, but Pawan’s phone was switched off.

“On Sunday morning, I was informed that my brother Pawan had been admitted to a private hospital in Pataudi. When I arrived, his condition was critical, and doctors referred him to a hospital in Gurugram. Pawan told me that Rajesh, Ankit, Sangram, Mohan Halwai and two others had brutally beaten him before fleeing, leaving him near the drain. Some people found him and rushed him to the hospital. In Gurugram, my brother succumbed to his injuries. He was killed by these villagers,” said Rahul.

An FIR was registered against all six accused on Sunday. The main accused was arrested on Monday and the police were conducting raids to nab others, said Inspector Sajjan Singh, SHO of the Pataudi police station.
