A man was burnt alive after a fire broke out at his house in the Maruti Kunj area.

After receiving information, a team of the Fire Brigade reached the spot and brought the fire under control, but could not save the victim. He was rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Sanjay, was a resident of the Maruti Kunj area near Bhondsi. Last night, his house caught fire and it took a horrific form in no time. His neighbours informed the Fire Department and also tried to control the fire by using water from

a borewell.

The Fire Brigade team reached the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour of efforts, but Sanjay was completely burnt in the fire.

A senior fire official said the victim was alone in the house at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire was not known and the police are investigating

the matter.

“We handed over the body to the kin after the postmortem. Further probe is under way,” said a senior police official.
