Jhajjar: A member of Mehrana village’s gram panchayat was found dead near the village canal. The body was recovered on Saturday and the deceased was identified as Ramesh Kumar of Mehrana. A case of murder has been registered against unidentified persons. Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanjay Kumar, who is investigating the incident, said they got information about a body lying near the canal at Mehrana village. He said there were injury marks on the head and the body was kept at the mortuary until it was identified. Family members of the deceased identified the body on Sunday and they denied any enmity with anyone. “A bottle of liquor has been recovered from the spot. The incident is being investigated from various angles,” the SI added. TNS

Two killed in road mishap

Hisar: Two persons, including a woman, were killed in a road mishap near Thakur Dass Bhargava School on the Rajgarh road here on Sunday. The victims were travelling on an electric scooter, which was hit by a car. The victims were rushed to hospital, where they were declared dead. The car driver tried to escape after the mishap, but he was caught near the Balasamd minor canal. The suspect was handed over to the police. The deceased have been identified as Bhavna, who was an employee in the Haryana Roadways, and Amandeep, who was driving the scooter. The police said Amandeep was going to drop Bhavna at the bus stand.
