Man gets 20-year RI for raping minor

The fast track special court (exclusive under POCSO Act) of Additional District and Sessions Judge Narender on Friday awarded a man 20-year rigorous imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old minor girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 62,000 upon the convict.

The court has also directed to give Rs 50,000 to the victim from the fine amount.

Vijender Singh, Special Public Prosecutor, said the incident was reported to Sadar police on May 19, 2024.

The mother of the victim, in her complaint to the police, said her daughter had gone to bring cow dung from a dairy, where Munna raped her. He threatened to kill her and her family members if she told anyone about it.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused, a resident of Dhikoli village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.
