The Faridabad police arrested a member of an inter-state robbery and theft gang following a brief encounter last night. The accused, identified as Vipin from Sinorasa village in Bihar, was injured after being shot in the leg during a retaliatory firing and is currently receiving treatment at BK Hospital.

According to the police, Vipin, who resides in KLJ Society, Sector 77, has a history of criminal activity, with over a dozen robbery and theft cases registered against him in Faridabad, as well as one in Gurugram. An FIR has been filed at the BPTI police station in Faridabad.

The arrest occurred when the Crime Branch team, Sector 85, was on patrol and received information that Vipin would be passing through Chandila Chowk. The team set up barricades to check vehicles, and when Vipin approached in SUV, he attempted to flee upon seeing the police. After a brief chase, the police stopped his vehicle. When Vipin attempted to shoot at the officers, the police responded with an aerial shot, and during the exchange of fire, Vipin was shot in the leg.

Recently released on bail, Vipin admitted to committing 10 thefts — 7 in Faridabad, 2 in Noida and 1 in Gurugram — since his release. He also confessed to being involved in several thefts at electronic shops in the NIT area, Faridabad, along with his gang.
