The police have arrested a man for cultivating poppy plants without permission and recovered 56 poppy plants from a plot in the Barara area of Ambala.

The accused has been identified as Pankaj Kumar, a resident of Barara. He was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody.

As per the information, the Barara police received a tip-off that Pankaj Kumar was cultivating poppy plants at a plot near his house without any license. The poppy plants were cultivated along with the vegetable plants. Following the information, a raid was conducted and the police party recovered 56 green poppy plants weighing over 2 kg. A case was registered at Barara police station.
