Man held for molesting woman; sent to judicial custody

In a swift action, the Sirsa police have arrested a man accused of molesting a woman and using caste-based slurs in a case registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused, Mukesh, a resident of Jassania village, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

According to Inspector Radheshyam, Station House Officer (SHO) of Nathusari Chopta police station, the victim, a resident of the Nathusari Chopta area, lodged a complaint alleging that on September 9, Mukesh forcibly entered her house and tried to molest her. When she resisted, he allegedly hurled caste-based abuses at her and physically assaulted her brother.

Based on her statement and initial investigation, an FIR was registered under Sections 74, 75(2), 332(c), 115 of the BNS, along with Sections 3(1) of the SC/ST Act. The investigation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Singh, who later added Sections 115(2) of the BNS and 3(2)(va) of the SC/ST Act after further developments.

Tragically, the victim’s brother Azad, reportedly distressed by the incident, consumed poison and later died during treatment at SMS Medical College, Hisar. Following this, Section 108 BNS was also added to the case.
