The accused has been identified as Mohammad Furkan of Jagadhri.
Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell In-charge Rajesh Kumar said, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, teams of the cell had been working to solve vehicle theft cases in the district.
The cell had received a tip-off that a man would be travelling to Uttar Pradesh via Badhi Majra village of the district to sell a stolen motorcycle, he added, stating that, after receiving information, he formed a team, which immediately reached near the Badhi Majra bridge to inspect vehicles.
“During the checking of vehicles, our team stopped a man riding a motorcycle. His vehicle was found to be stolen,” Kumar said.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had stolen the motorcycle from an area falling under the jurisdiction of the Yamunanagar (City) police station on July 10. Two more stolen motorcycles were recovered from the possession of the accused, Kumar added, stating that the accused was on Sunday produced before a Jagadhri court and sent to judicial custody.
