The CIA-I unit of Yamunanagar district police has arrested a man with 507 gm of smack from near Kalanaur village, on the Haryana-UP border. The estimated market price of the seized contraband is about Rs 25 lakh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajat Gulia said on the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, a crackdown has been launched on drug smugglers in the district.

Under a drive, a special team was formed under Raj Kumar, in-charge of CIA-1. The DSP said on the basis of secret information, the team arrested a suspect from near the Yamuna bridge, near Kalanaur village, in the district. The accused was identified as Shamsher, alias Kallu, a resident of Saharanpur district in UP. He said the accused was today produced before a Jagadhri court, which sent him to seven days of police custody.

The DSP added that the accused would be interrogated to ascertain the involvement of other people in the drug smuggling network. CIA-I in-charge Raj Kumar said a case had been registered under the NDPS Act.
