According to a police spokesperson, a team from Mahmudpur police post was patrolling on the Samana–Cheeka road when they received information that Vijay Kumar, a resident of Theh Banehra village in Kaithal district, was posing as a staff of the Kurukshetra Police Cyber Cell and was heading towards Punjab in his car.

Acting swiftly, a police team set up a checkpoint near the Mahmudpur bus stand. When an Alto car approached, police signaled it to stop. The driver attempted to flee, but was intercepted and apprehended by the team.

During questioning, the accused claimed he was serving in the Kurukshetra Cyber Cell. However, verification confirmed that no such individual was posted there. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a police uniform, belt, shoes, cap, forged police ID card, laptop, pen drive, mobile phone, and other articles.
