In a complaint lodged with the police, Roop’s wife Anita stated that there was a property dispute between her husband and his elder brother Ajmer Singh.

“Ajmer and his sons Mohit and Rasuk entered our house late last evening. They had a pistol with which they shot at Roop Singh in the chest,” said Anita.

She took her husband to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
