A man suffered bullet injury in his leg after some miscreants opened fire at him in the Kirti Nagar area of Kurukshetra late last night.

The injured was identified as Naresh Kumar. A dispute over the liquor business is suspected to be the reason behind the firing incident.

As per the information, at 12 midnight, some miscreants in three vehicles reached Kirti Nagar and opened multiple fire at Naresh Kumar. After the firing incident, the suspects managed to flee from the spot. Naresh Kumar was rushed to LNJP District Civil Hospital for treatment, from where he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. Naresh Kumar had been associated with liquor business in the past.

Meanwhile, the Kurukshetra police have detained nearly six to seven suspects in connection with the firing incident and the CCTV footage of the area was being examined. The vehicles of the suspects have been impounded.

Krishna Gate police station SHO Baljeet Singh said “At 12 midnight, information regarding the firing incident was reported in which Naresh Kumar has suffered injury. Following the information, check posts were installed and during checking some suspects have been detained and the investigation is underway. The injured is yet to get his statement recorded and appropriate action will be taken on the basis of the complaint. The exact cause of the incident will be ascertained during the investigation.”
