The Bharat Bandh call by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha had a partial impact in Panipat and Sonepat today, as markets remained open in the city areas.

Protesting farmers blocked roads at Israna, Madlauda, at the toll-plaza on the National Highway No-44, near Ladsauli in Sonepat and at the Singhu border. The bus stand and the railway stations in Panipat and Sonepat wore a deserted look.

In Panipat district, farmers blocked traffic at the toll plaza on the National Highway No-44, near Shahpur village on the Panipat-Rohtak highway, and at the Bhalsi turn on the Panipat-Jind highway. Fewer commuters were noticed on the national and state highways in comparison to other days.

In Sonepat district, the farmers blocked traffic at the Badwasni chowk, and Joli Lath on the Sonepat-Gohana road and the Sonepat-Kharkhoda road. Besides, the National Highway No-44 was blocked near Ladsauli village. — TNS
