The victim, who is from a Scheduled Caste community, was raped several times between July 9 and July 31 by the accused who used to show her obscene clips on his mobile phone. The police have received a zero FIR from the Panchkula police after the child told doctors about her ordeal during counselling.

Sources said the girl’s parents shifted to Panchkula from Sirsa some months ago and noticed that she used to be upset most of the time. They took her for counselling to the Panchkula Civil Hospital during which she revealed she was sexually assaulted by the coach. A medical examination confirmed rape and a complaint was filed with the Panchkula police.

The victim told the Panchkula police that her coach raped her when she was alone at the coaching centre and threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone.

Police spokesperson Surjeet Singh said the coach was arrested from Sirsar after the FIR was registered. “The accused has been arrested under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act,” Singh said.
