The fire broke out in Sumit Hardware and paint agency in Sadar Bazaar on Basai road around 6.20 pm. Soon the blaze and smoke was spotted by people. Police and fire brigade were called.

Twelve fire engines were pressed into service but due to paint inside the showroom the blaze spread rapidly and the fire spread to neighbouring shops.

Fire officer Isham Singh Kashyap said they are on spot as the fire has not been controlled fully yet. He added that the cause behind the fire was yet to be ascertained.
