A three-member committee at Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak (UHSR) has initiated an investigation into an alleged MBBS exam scam involving tampered answer sheets. The complaint, filed by an MBBS student from a private college, claims that an employee of the university used a personal paper stitching machine to manipulate answer sheets.

“The complainant alleged that in some cases, the employee would remove the front page of an original answer sheet —containing the seat number, barcode and roll number of the examinee — and stitch it onto another sheet,” sources revealed. “This second sheet was either rewritten by the candidate or someone else on their behalf, making it appear genuine.”

Every page of the MBBS answer sheets features a barcode, the UHSR name and logo. These details are visible in a purported video submitted by the complainant, showing students rewriting answer sheets in a room. The video, now part of the investigation, has raised concerns about malpractice.

“The committee, formed by the Vice-Chancellor, spent hours on Friday scrutinising the evidence, including videos, screenshots and supportive documents,” sources added.

In response to the scandal, UHSR authorities have suspended two employees, terminated the services of three outsourced employees pending inquiry and changed the examination centres for three private colleges in different districts to prevent further malpractice in upcoming MBBS/MD/MS exams.

Vikram Singh Doumolia, president of the Dr Ambedkar Missionaries Vidyarthi Association, has called for a high-level probe, citing the scale of the alleged scam. “The answer sheets cannot be taken out from the university without the involvement of examination branch officials. However, only a few officials have been shifted instead of facing stern action,” he asserted.

The UHSR scandal highlights systemic vulnerabilities and raises questions about the accountability of examination branch staff. The investigation is ongoing.
