MC plans cluster-wise cleanliness drive in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri

To beautify Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, civic body has decided to run a cluster-wise cleanliness drive. The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) will place dustbins in the markets to ensure that people do not throw garbage in the open.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta and Commissioner of the MCYJ Mahabir Prasad along with officials of the district administration rode bicycles today to make residents aware about cleanliness.

According to information, a “Sewa Pakhwada” would be organised in the state from September 17 to October 2 to make cities garbage free.

An event on cleanliness would be organised in Yamunanagar on September 25. Yamunanagar MLA, mayor, councillors, social organisations, students and employees of the MCYJ would participate in the programme to make people aware about cleanliness.

Prasad held a meeting with officials of the MCYJ to take stock of the preparations being made for the Sewa Pakhwada.

Special Officer (Sanitation) Anil Kumar Yadav, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Malik, Chief Sanitation Inspector (CSI) Anil Nain, CSI Harjeet Singh, CSI Vinod Beniwal and SDO Rakesh June participated in the meeting.

The Commissioner said cleanliness drive would be held in all wards of the MCYJ. He said under the Sewa Pakhwada programme, PP kits would be distributed to sanitation workers.

He added that special check-up camps would be set up to check health of sanitation workers. “Religious and social organisations will also be made part of this drive. There will be awareness programmes on cleanliness in schools. Work will be done to create zero waste wards and offices,” said Prasad.
