The undergraduate students and interns at Rohtak PGIMS, PGIDS and other allied colleges have raised objections to the closure of the PGI central library reading hall for conducting examinations.

Students from MBBS, BDS, pharmacy and nursing courses have pointed out that the reading hall has been converted into an examination centre, causing inconvenience to those who rely on it for academic preparation.

“Due to this, the reading hall of the library remains closed for 15 to 20 days in a month during exams, making it unavailable for students who want to study there,” said the protesting medicos. The Under-Graduate Students and Interns Association (UGSIA) of Rohtak PGIMS and PGIDS has urged the authorities to reconsider the decision in the larger interest of students.

The association expressed concern that students, despite paying library fees along with their tuition, are being compelled to take memberships in private libraries by paying hefty charges. Association leaders have also sought an appointment with the PGIMS director to discuss the matter and work towards solution.
