Been loyal to party for last 10 years: Renu Bala

I have served the party for the last 10 years, taking up every responsibility assigned to me with dedication. The public has supported and blessed me all these years. But, for the past two days, my heart has been heavy.

Gupta, a strong contender for the Karnal seat, expressed disappointment, claiming that merit was overlooked in the allocation of the ticket. She also called a meeting of her supporters on September 8 to take further decision. The party has fielded former media coordinator to ex-CM, Jagmohan Anand as its candidate for the Karnal seat, which left her feeling betrayed.

“I have served the party for the last 10 years, taking on every responsibility assigned to me with dedication. The public has continuously supported and blessed me throughout these years. For the past two days, my heart has been heavy. My supporters have been coming to my residence, expressing their willingness to stand by me. My further decision will be taken by my supporters on September 8,” said Gupta while interacting with The Tribune.

Gupta was elected councillor as an Independent candidate in 2013 and later elected Mayor with the support of the councillors. She joined the BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. She was re-elected as Mayor in 2018 through direct election.

“I have worked with dedication in all elections, but I was ignored in the distribution of ticket. The ticket was not given on merit,” she asserted.

Gupta also thanked residents of Karnal for their respect they had given her and the love they had showered on her. “People of Karnal have given me a lot of respect, for which I am always thankful. I will stand by whatever decision my supporters entrust me with and carry out my responsibilities with complete sincerity,” she added.
